About vets in Haringey

Haringey, London

There isn't a 24-hour emergency vet hospital in Haringey itself. If your pet needs urgent help at night, you'll have to go out of the borough. Help with vet bills depends on your postcode, and the RSPCA hospital that used to treat pets from the area doesn't any more.

Emergencies at night and at weekends

The nearest 24-hour emergency hospitals are in Enfield Lock, West Hendon and Wanstead, and there's also a 24-hour emergency service in Belsize Park.

Vets have to take steps to provide emergency first aid and pain relief around the clock, but a practice can arrange that through another practice rather than doing it itself. The profession's guidance says your practice should tell you when you register where its out-of-hours service is, what hours it covers and roughly what it costs to be seen there. That's much easier to find out before an emergency than during one.

Help with vet bills

The RSPCA's Finsbury Park animal hospital, which is in Holloway, no longer treats people's pets, and its former clients were referred to PDSA.

Whether PDSA can help you depends on your postcode and the benefits you get. Since March 2026, N17 has been covered by its pet hospital in Ilford. If you live somewhere else in Haringey, PDSA's online checker will tell you whether you qualify.

Blue Cross's animal hospital in Victoria covers N4 and N15, for owners on certain benefits or a state pension. You pay a fee for each visit.

Registering with a practice

Before you register with one of the practices above, ask where it sends emergencies and how far that is from home.

Questions about vets

Is there a 24-hour vet in Haringey?

Not in the borough itself. The nearest 24-hour emergency hospitals are in Enfield Lock, West Hendon and Wanstead, and there's a 24-hour service in Belsize Park. Your own practice should tell you which one it uses.

Does the RSPCA hospital in Finsbury Park still treat pets?

No. The hospital, which is in Holloway, no longer treats people's pets, and its former clients were referred to PDSA.

Can I use PDSA if I live in Haringey?

It depends on your postcode and your benefits. N17 has been covered by PDSA's Ilford pet hospital since March 2026, and for the rest of the borough, PDSA's online checker will tell you whether you qualify.

Does Blue Cross cover Haringey?

Only N4 and N15, through its hospital in Victoria, for owners on certain benefits or a state pension. There's a fee for each visit.
